Letters From the Liberty Motel - Finale

< Day 3 Day 4 - Room 54 🎲 Event: 10, Reflection Behind the door, I find that other me, the version of myself with her scales and tail and gleaming yellow eyes. She seems in even higher spirits than before, twirling around and humming a tune as she wipes the tables and collects the sheets. She doesn't seem to notice me immediately, so caught up in her work. ➕ The last time I encountered her, it did not end well. I am wary that her good mood won't last for long. ➕ I need to ask her about the dream I had last night. ➕ My fingers wrap around the broken pencil in my pocket. I clear my throat, finally drawing the other me's attention with a start, and display the trash in my palm. "Have you been mistreated for your nature too?" I ask. ⚙️ Broken pencil removed from inventory 🎲 Result: 8 (5+3) She tilts her head, then reaches into her own pocket and, with eyebrows knitted in sudden confusion, produces an identically broken pencil. "How did you do that?" s...

Letters From the Liberty Motel - Day 3

< Day 2 Day 3 - Room 32 🎲 Event: 3, Scene of the Crime My first assignment of the day takes me to the room neighboring where I found the remains of the Ash followers' rituals. The smell of gladiolus is nowhere to be found -- the motel has cleaned it away overnight, like all damage -- but a different stench hits my nose like a sour note in a symphony. One I've learned to identify immediately. I open the door. The interior is splattered with blood. It drips down the walls and soaks into the carpet. Chairs are tipped over. Books and papers are strewn across the floor. The bed is torn through dozens of times over. 🌫️ I did not sleep well last night. 🌫️ I am far from innocent. This scene is familiar to me. 🎲 Result: 7 (7+0) Feeling cold, even while my skin prickles and burns, I dig through a pile of crumpled clothes to find several severed body parts. An arm, a foot, part of a torso. Far from a whole corpse, but I will still need to clean it all up. I am about to leave the ...

Letters From the Liberty Motel - Day 2

< Day 1 Day 2 - Room 51 🎲 Event: 6, Cause For Alarm Today begins as the last one did: with a fire. A different room this time, three floors up. I meet this incident with duller surprise, though I can only wonder if a would-be arsonist has been let loose upon the motel. 🌫️ The motel has already inflicted a lasting change on my body. I am wary of sustaining any burns, even if it is my duty. ➕ I saw this scene before yesterday. I am ready. ➕ The cinder in my pocket calls to its brethren. I set it free so it might help coax the wild flames into submission. ⚙️ Cinder removed from inventory 🎲 Result: 7 (5+2) Despite my confidence, or perhaps because of it, this time goes differently. Instead of immediately obeying my command, the flames pour forth their wretched black smoke until I'm left a coughing, bleary-eyed mess. I am able to bring it to submission eventually, but not without extensive damage to the room. No guest will be able to stay here, at least until the damage repairs i...

Letters From the Liberty Motel - Day 1

< Intro Day 1 - Room 21 🎲 Event: 6, Cause For Alarm When I was called to attend to a guest emergency, I didn't expect the smoke. The motel never sustains any permanent damage, but hazards such as a fire reflect poorly on the establishment and must be dealt with efficiently. The doorknob is painful to hold, but I have no choice. I shield my face to the best of my ability as I enter. ➕ This job is precious to me. Even if I am disfigured by the flames, I will press on with my duty. ➕ The sight of the flames devouring the furniture and curling the wallpaper stirs a memory in me. I've seen this before -- but not with an empty room. It was a person burning, then. Someone important to me? 🎲 Result: 13 (11+2) To my surprise, once I am inside the room, the flames do not hurt me. For a moment I wonder if the motel has finally chosen to extend its protections to my own body -- I've sustained many injuries over the years -- but I soon realize it's the fire itself that has chan...

Letters From the Liberty Motel - Intro

Letters From the Liberty Motel is an ominous journaling RPG about a housekeeper performing their duties in an infinite eldritch motel. This playthrough's protagonist is half human, half monster, and has sought sanctuary in the Liberty Motel; she must now endure the horrors behind every door and unravel the mystery of the motel and the curse that has befallen her. Game link:  https://worldchampgameco.itch.io/letters The game is split into four days. Each day features a number of rooms, each of which contains an event. Room numbers are chosen by rolling d66, and events by rolling d10 and consulting the corresponding prompt.   The outcomes of most events are decided by a dice roll. There are two accompanying questions to answer, the results of which affect the roll. The game provides specific prompts for each outcome, but generally a result of 10 or higher leads to a more controlled outcome, 6 or lower is more dangerous or troubling, and 7-9 is somewhere in between. Some events a...
